Currency

The currency in Kenya and Tanzania is the Kenyan Shilling and Tanzanian Shilling respectively. They are not very strong currencies as one US Dollar is estimated to be worth 85 Kenyan Shillings or 1,500 Tanzanian Shillings. Clients are advised to take travelers’ checks in Pounds Sterling or US Dollars.

US Dollars and Pounds Sterling are widely used in Kenyan and Tanzanian hotels and lodges. Most banks are operational from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays; they provide currency exchange services like other forex exchange bureaus.
