A family vacation is a great way to experience something new, such as culture, as well as the fact that it helps bring the family closer. This is because of the shared experience and time away from everyone else that you and your family get to enjoy. Combine that with Kenya and you have the perfect recipe for an out of bounds time in the wild.

This experience, if handled and arranged well, is one that will be for the record books. But sometimes travelling with the family can be a bit hard due to the different personalities and age groups present. Here are a few things you can consider when you are preparing for your journey with the family.

Almost all visitors to Kenya require visas to enter the country and the Ordinary Single Journey visas (US$50/€40/UK£30) are valid for only 90 days from the date of issue (not the date you enter Kenya). Visitors must enter Kenya before the expiry date of the visa and the visa is invalidated upon exit from the country. Although Ordinary Single Journey visas can be obtained on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, guests to Kenya are advised to consult with Kenyan missions in their country of residence before travelling to enter Kenya.

A sheltered oasis, Sweetwaters Tented Camp rests at the centre of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy below the plains of Mt Kenya. Ol Pejeta is East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary and shelters large numbers of other rare and endangered species. It is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and in addition, its host to all the members of the Big Five. The conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya.
