Top 5 most seductive rooms in the Masai Mara, Kenya

Kenya was immortalised as the home of the safari by legendary personalities such as Ernest Hemingway and Karen Blixen. The classic 'Out of Africa' movie, filmed in Kenya, perfectly portrays the romance, thrill and excitement of the country.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is arguably Kenya's premier wildlife hotspot and nestled deep in a belt of its dense riverine forests, on the very edge, lies the intimate Bateleur Camp replicating the style, glamour and ambiance of Kenyan explorers of old.

Each elegant tent, with its own private butler, is secluded by lush green vegetation, carving out a private, leafy enclave for every guest. When the dawn chorus of birds and monkeys begins outside, step out of your luxurious tent onto the private veranda outside and watch the bush around you come to life. While away an hour or two in the deep leather chairs on the veranda, looking out onto the endless African plains, with their abundant herds of wildlife. On a hot day, swap the shade of the forest for a dip in the sparkling lap pool.

Guest areas bring in the vast open spaces, adding a touch of vintage safari elegance. Intriguing antiques, handcrafted artefacts and keepsakes of bygone times mingle with comfortable sofas and polished leather chairs. Shiny brass compasses, leather trunks and framed maps bring a poignant reminder of old world travellers on a similar journey, while bookshelves of bound tomes entertain and inform. The warm glow of torches and candles welcomes you back from your evening drive. Slip into a world where hardwood floors, fine china, twinkling crystal and polished silver sparkle in the torchlight as the aromas of delicious meals waft on the breeze. The days are designed to thrill wildlife enthusiasts, first time and repeat travellers, nature lovers, photographers, birders with intimate wildlife encounters and the nights to spoil you with the romance of Africa.

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp offers a quintessential game viewing experience, with sweeping panoramas of the Masai Mara and the Sabaringo River. Located where the riverine forest meets the sweeping Mara plains in the western-end, on the path of the awe-inspiring Great Migration, and at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment, the camp provides an authentic dose of African wildlife, delivered with legendary Kenyan hospitality.

As guests arrive, they are instantly welcomed by this commanding view. The spacious guest areas incorporate split-level spaces where guests can relax and unwind. The large windows invite the Mara inside, making it feel like part of the guest area.

Enhancing its elements of romance and nostalgia, the camp has been redesigned to better display the Mara scenery with ample yet contemporary Masai-inspired luxury suites that are elegant and timeless. The classic interiors are illuminated by soft lantern light that open up onto majestic African landscapes. Spacious private verandas provide views of the open grasslands or the wooded riverbanks and the passing wildlife. Each tented suite has a comfortable built-in daybed where guests can relax with loved ones and take in the spectacular scenery. Untamed African wilderness accented by colonial decadence, yet managed sustainably – this camp re-embraces the romance of 1920s safaris with a conscientious 21st century attitude.

Mahali Mzuri is located in the Motorogi Conservancy within the Masai Mara ecosystem. The camp was set up in collaboration with the local Masai communities and its key priorities are to leave as minimal a footprint as possible on the land and to promote tourism that creates less pressure on the environment and brings prosperity to the land.

The camps luxury tents ooze 'safari chic'. Nestled into the hillside, each tent has its own extended balcony with incredible views over the valley. Large zip fronts on the bedroom and bathroom allow you to romantically enjoy sunrise or sunset in one of the most beautiful places in the world from the comfort of your bed or roll top bath. The camp consists of an infinity pool, a bar and lounge area with a viewing deck overlooking the river valley.

What to look forward to: Moët with breakfast on a Sunday, cocktails by the pool, romantic champagne dinner on our balcony, dancing with the Masai locals around the dinner table, spa treatments on valley floor whilst you take in stunning surroundings and maybe even spot an animal or two ... the list is endless!

The intimate tented Naboisho Camp in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy balances a wilderness experience with discreet creature comforts. At the camp, herds of antelope dot the rolling plains of grass that merge seamlessly with the Masai Mara National Reserve, while stands of acacia woodland hide prolific birdlife. Beneath your feet, rich volcanic soils give life to a verdant landscape.

The luxurious tented suites offer private facilities and large screen windows to let the sights and sounds of the Kenyan wilderness astound you at every turn. The name Naboisho translates as 'harmony', and throughout the camp – from the low-impact canvas suites, to the organic construction of the main lodge – there is careful consideration for offering a romantic safari escape while touching the earth lightly.

Naboisho is particularly famous for its wide range of game viewing activities, and at the end of your day of African adventure, you will relish the warm, yet understated hospitality that is the hallmark of the camp: dinners by the fireside, tales traded in the stylish lodge and the exotic sounds of the bush lulling you to sleep.

Do not be surprised if you have not heard of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Although situated alongside the iconic Masai Mara, this ground-breaking conservation initiative launched in 2011 is slowly but surely making a name for itself.

Imagine, waking up in the middle of the wilderness and hearing nothing but the sounds of the birds chirping and animals grazing, definitely a treasured moment of a lifetime only to be experienced at Olare Mara Kempinski in the Masai Mara. Each tent within the conservancy has 700 acres of grassland to itself – the lowest density in the region.

The tented camp comprises of five twin and seven double occupancy tents, whilst the honeymoon suite is 100 sq. meters and has its very own plunge pool. After a game drive of a lifetime with your loved one, return to the camp having seen the sun set over the Mara plains. Thereafter relax in the cooling waters of the plunge pool as you gaze at the resident Hippos in the Hippo Pool and sip champagne, a picture perfect memory.

The tents are built on a luxurious wooden base, an ideal spot for reading your favourite novel and drifting into fantasyland. The tents are furnished with comfortable beds, a lounge area with wide sofas and rugs; an ideal place for you and your loved one with views of the grassland nearby you as crisp fresh air fills the surroundings – your haven of romance and relaxation.
